Out of all the stories I've ever written, this is still one of my favorites -- and enough people agreed with me to earn it a BaMoTTuSto Reader's Choice award. Not only did it introduce Kiasu, it's also a gaming story that makes me wish I'd been there.
Minor Characters
- Nex, Randall, Ben Jacobs, Anna and Moon, Tayek, Red, Duncan, Sarah, and 13 unnamed Seattle-area mages
- From Causes To Crusades - a "late spring" weekend two weeks after April Fool's
- Wallace Falls State Park (near Seattle, WA, USA)
- none
- The group is playing live-action AgeOfAscension.
- The live-action AOA rules require the players to use ThaumoMeters.
- The hand signals used in the game (crossed fingers over head for character death, "L" shape for out-of-character speak) were all made up for AOA; I don't think any real-world system uses them.
