Stories: Shelter
"I'm not so certain the world's going to end any more."
After a small north Texas town is largely demolished by a freak January tornado, its victims collect in a Red Cross shelter. Although national events are the last thing on the refugees' minds, they wake up the next morning to news no one can ignore ... news that truly hits home when a werewolf joins them.

This is another BaMoTTuSto Reader's Choice winner. I'm not terribly satisfied with the writing, but it seems to speak to people.
- Unnamed narrator, a tornado victim
- Unnamed werewolf
- Jan. 8-9, 1997
- northern Texas, USA
- The Meeting
- "The Beast had declared war" refers to Dennis Redwing's declaration after The Meeting.
- While January is hardly "tornado season", tornadoes can and do strike at any time of year as long as the conditions are right. (1)∞ See the NOAA Storm Prediction Center's Tornado FAQ∞ for more.
